Professional Certificate in Ethics and The Contemporary Practice of Psychotherapy

This module aims to provide students with an introduction to the common approaches to contemporary psychotherapy, the role and relevance of ethics to contemporary psychotherapy and how ethics can address unanticipated and often complex issues faced by both new and experienced practitioners

At the end of the module, students will be able to:

1. Understand the Foundations of Ethical Practice – Morals, Values and Ethics.
2. Understand the stages of Ethical Decision Making
3. Apply strategies for responding to multiracial practice issues / cultural sensitive issues.
4. Explore the contemporary paradigms which integrate the main psychotherapy models which includes Psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered.

Dr Lim Kok Kwang is a Consultant and Clinical Psychologist, He also teaches and supervises Masters and Doctoral trainees in child and family therapy. He is a former President of the Singapore Psychological Society and the Singapore Society of Clinical Hypnosis, as well as a recipient of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Psychology in Singapore.
