Alarming Statistics: Fraud Affects More than One in Four Companies in Singapore
 

Report shows that internal fraud has risen since 2011, with 58% of the fraud incidents reported in 2014 being perpetrated by employees. This is why it remains as the most significant threat to companies. Despite tightening in regulations and accounting standards, disturbing fraud and corruption patterns is still on the rise.

PhD (UWA), MBA (Strathclyde), MBA - Investment & Finance (Hull), MBR (UWA

James graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant from Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and a Fellow CPA Australia. He is also a Fellow of the Association of International Accountants in UK, an Associate Management Accountant with The Institute of Certified Management Accountants in Australia and a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors, James completed his PhD in Finance from University of Western Australia.

He holds three masters degree: an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, an MBA in Investment and Finance from the University of Hull and a Master in Business Research from the University of Western Australia. He is currently an independent director of Global Premium Hotels Limited where he chairs the Remuneration Committee.

James also holds a Specialist Diploma in Applied Learning and Teaching at Republic Polytechnic. He has completed a PhD in finance from the University of Western Australia and is currently pursuing his second doctorate degree in Higher Education with Lancaster University and his fourth master degree in Digital Education with University of Edinburgh. His research interests cover IPO performance, corporate governance, behavioural corporate finance, threshold concepts, enhancing learning and teaching in higher education.

An award-winning, passionate and committed trainer with more than 20 years of teaching experience in the public universities such as NTU, NUS and SIT, and private higher education institutions in Singapore and overseas, James specializes in teaching financial accounting/reporting, cost and management accounting, financial management, treasury and risk management, corporate governance, professional and business ethics at professional, undergraduate and postgraduate level.

He conducted Singapore Qualification Programme (SQP) training for auditors from Big Four accounting firms such as PwC and KPMG. Currently, he is a consultant at Redshifts Consultants where he conducts training on accounting and finance for individual and corporate clients.

On the corporate front, he was a group management accountant with a FMCG multinational enterprise. He is current an independent director with Global Premium Hotels Limited, where he chairs the Remuneration Committee and also a member of the Audit Committee and Nomination Committee
